Trust
Who runs this
One person: Jarrel Pothoff, in the Netherlands, through a registered sole proprietorship (KVK 42143146). Not a team, not a studio, not a funded company. “SyncTogether” is a project name on some repositories and “synccy” is a domain — neither is a legal entity, and neither employs anyone. The full registration details are in Terms §12.
Where your data actually is
- On your device — notes, drafts, and the local copy of everything you have opened.
- In your own iCloud private database, when you enable iCloud. That is Apple's storage under your Apple Account, not ours; we cannot read it.
- On hardware we run ourselves, in the EU, for shared and team data. No AWS, no Azure, no Google Cloud in that path.
What we do not do
- We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers or brokers.
- We do not read advertising identifiers, and we do not use the IDFA.
- We do not train models on your content.
- We do not run third-party analytics SDKs inside the app. This website is a separate question — see Subprocessors.
What we do not have
The honest list, because a reader deciding whether to trust a small product is better served by it than by another paragraph of reassurance:
- No public release. Platform is not on the App Store. It has been through TestFlight builds and nothing more.
- No published source. Self-hosting is the design, but there is no public repository to hand you yet, so “run it yourself” is currently by arrangement rather than by download.
- No security audit by a third party. Nobody outside has reviewed this code.
- No SOC 2, no ISO 27001, no DPA template. Those come with an organisation, and there is one person here.
- No uptime guarantee and no support SLA. Email gets answered, usually within a couple of days, by the person who wrote the code. That is the whole support organisation.
- No users to speak of. There are no testimonials on this site because there are no customers yet to give any. If you ever see a quote here, it will be from a named person who actually said it.
Reporting something
Security issues and privacy questions go to the same address as everything else: support@synccy.com. It reaches one inbox, read by one person, and you will get a human answer rather than a ticket robot.
